I’m available for informative presentations for children, teens, and adults at conferences, schools, libraries, bookstores, book festivals, etc.  I can tailor presentations to meet your needs.  I’m passionate about encouraging young writers, and love getting readers excited about books!

Possible topics:

• Fact or Fiction—My Life as a Writer (grades 1-6, assemblies or classroom):  an interactive presentation that details how I’ve gotten story ideas and what my life is like as a writer.

• Who Are You? (grades 3+, classroom with limited number of attendees):  this interactive workshop is about crafting characters writers are interested in and care about.

• I Wrote a Story, Now What? (grades 6+, assemblies or classroom):  this presentation details the publishing process with an emphasis on revision.

  Bookstore events:

  Public library events:

• Fees vary, plus travel and lodging expenses (if necessary)

  Writing conferences/workshops/festivals/etc:

• Fees vary given the nature and the size of the event, plus travel and lodging expenses (if necessary)

  For school visits within the greater Austin area:

• One presentation: $250 (45 minutes to 1 hour)

• Two presentations: $400 (45 minutes to 1 hour each)

• Full day: $600 (up to four presentations, 45 minutes to 1 hour each)               

  School visits out of greater Austin area:

• $600/day (up to four presentations, 45 minutes to 1 hour each) plus travel and lodging expenses (if necessary)

  School visits out of state:

• $850/day plus travel and lodging expenses (up to four presentations, 45 minutes to 1 hour each)

Note:  No extra charge for interviews, to have lunch with a small group of motivated students, or to sign books.  Depending upon my schedule, some fees are negotiable.

What I’ll need: 

• As much advance notice as possible.

• Set-up and space for a PowerPoint presentation.

Please note:

• So students get the most out of visits, it helps for them to know who the author is ahead of time.  It also helps for teachers and/or librarians make my books available ahead of time.  Discussion guides are available.
